A couple of weeks ago, Cody mentioned something about going to the movies for my birthday. I finally took him up on that offer Friday night. We had talked about seeing Stronger, the movie about the Boston marathon bombing, but there weren’t any theaters close to us that were showing it. We saw Battle of the Sexes instead. I had heard of the tennis match before but didn’t know the whole back story. It was a great movie!
On Saturday, we had house stuff to do. Cody did some work in the back yard. He removed the chain link fence, took out rocks around the beds of ivy, and cut down a little tree that was in the way. I painted the teal bathroom door and the insides of the bathroom cabinets. The cabinets smelled like old lady perfume and baking soda wasn’t removing the odor so I think painting did the trick. The bathroom looks so much bigger and brighter with a white door now.
That night we went to church and had dinner at Abuelo’s. We realized when we got there that we were eating at Abuelo’s on that same night a year ago for our rehearsal dinner. It’s crazy how time flies!
Sunday was our one year anniversary. We celebrated by going to the Fort Worth zoo! I grew up going once a year with my Nana and Papa but I haven’t been in a long time so it was fun to go back.
Since the weather was so nice, it was pretty crowded but not too bad. There were so many baby animals there! They had a baby giraffe, zebra, gorilla, and elephant. The gorilla was swinging around on the rope beating it’s chest and the baby elephant tried to steal food from it’s mom.
The animal I wanted to see the most were the giraffes. At the Abilene Zoo, you used to be able to feed them from the bridge so I remember always seeing their black tongues licking the concrete. Today, they were too far away to see up close so they were still so pretty!
